Pyxis Android beta — testers wanted

We plan to launch Pyxis in mid-to-late October. Until then, the game is open for beta testing on Android. Play it, tell us what breaks and what you’d change, and it goes straight into the launch build.

What to expect

  • Android only. The iOS version is being built alongside and launches at the same time, but iOS doesn’t let us add testers freely or ship updates quickly, so testing happens on Android.
  • All data is reset at launch. Guilds built during the beta don’t carry over.
  • No ads during the test. Rewards that normally come from watching an ad are granted without one.

The game

An idle RPG where you run a guild: recruit adventurers, build parties, and send them into dungeons.

The guild building: storage, forge, tavern, mailbox and quarters stacked floor by floor. An adventurer's detail screen, showing stats, traits and equipment. The promotion tree branching out from one of the five starting families. The tavern, with the guests who arrived today and their traits. The formation screen: as you build a party it works out how deep it goes and what it earns. A turn-based battle at the moment an enemy Breaks. The forge, crafting gear from materials the parties brought back.
7 screens — scroll sideways
  • Tavern — new guests arrive every day, each born with 1–3 traits (all odds are listed in the game). You don’t have to give up on an adventurer with weak traits: a Tome of Awakening adds a trait line to an adventurer with 1–2 lines (a rare find while dispatched), and an Anomaly Shard swaps one of a resident adventurer’s traits for one from a Tavern guest.
  • Promotion — start in one of five families (Warrior, Rogue, Archer, Mage, Cleric) and promote as you level. You can switch back to an earlier class at any time; each class keeps its own level.
  • Formation — as you build a party, the game works out how deep it can go and what it will earn.
  • Battle — automatic, turn-based. Tap an ally or an enemy mid-fight to pause and check buffs. Every enemy has weaknesses; hit one enough times and the enemy Breaks and loses its turn, so a varied roster pays off.
  • Forge — craft gear from the materials your parties bring back.

How it makes money

There are no in-app purchases at launch; the game runs on ads, and ads are always optional:

  • Call new Tavern guests: 2 times a day
  • Collect 2 hours of idle rewards right away: once a day
  • Halve the remaining Forge craft time: 2 times a day
  • Double Hunt and Legion rewards: only on the part above this week’s best

We have no plans to sell characters in packs. After launch we may add paid convenience options people keep asking for (for example, removing ads).

Art and AI

UI and icons are purchased assets. Character sprites were made with Gemini and touched up in Aseprite, and AI was also used to procedurally generate pixel art such as backgrounds. Overall, AI played a large part in making this game.

How to join

  1. Join the Google Group at groups.google.com/g/pyxis-testers: sign in with your Google account and click Join group. Members’ email addresses aren’t shared. A “you don’t have access” message there is normal.
  2. Become a tester: with the same account, open play.google.com/apps/testing/rocks.east.pyxis and tap Become a tester.
  3. Install the app from Pyxis on Google Play.

If the store says it can’t find the app after step 2, try again in about 10 minutes; Google Play can take a while to catch up.

Bugs and feedback

Post them on Discord; bug reports and suggestions are both welcome. Email works too: support@east.rocks.
